Death in the family....gloomy day

Okay, so a possible hurricane is bearing down on South Florida.

My Grandma and Grandpa are in West Central Florida (Punta Gorda). I'm worried cause Mom-Mom is not a hurricane party type gal and Grandpa is in Hospice. Then Mom calls me with the news that Grandpa passed away this morning but they can't get him out to KY until Thursday thanks to Fay. So Mom-Mom has to stay in Florida. Aunt and Uncle are on their way TO Florida.

It's a mess!

Mom and I are heading to KY on Friday most likely with LJ. CC and DD are staying here. CC said he I could leave LJ here...Yeah right, I show up in KY WITHOUT LJ and there will be a revolt. People will be mad. Lots of family and none have met him except two of my siblings. Besides, MomMom wants to meet her Grandson!

So it's a gloomy day here. Sorry to be so down but it's just one of those things.

And here I thought that the beginning of the school year would be good for us all.

FIDDLESTICKS

FIDDLESTICKS.

My brother just called me and offered us 4 tickets to Bristol next weekend. ARGH. We can't go because DD has a swim meet. AAARRRGGGHHHHH.

Such is the life of a parent I guess.

So last night we were doing the bath thing. LJ just loves the water. Mommy does too. BUT, and I mean there is a big but here (no, I'm not talking about MY butt) Mommy does NOT like having to clean up gallons of water off the floor cause LJ decides he wants to throw water everywhere.

If you are happy and you know it blow some bubbles (that's how I get him to blow bubbles in the tub practicing for swimming).

Can you tell I'm totally random today?

So my random thought is, well, I'm just random today...mind is everywhere.

Amen Shelly!

To be young again. Wow, how I feel that somedays.

This morning was Freshman orientation for DD. Of course, she comes down dressed for Summer, not school. It was too late to make her change so her shorts and tank top had to do (she got an earful for that one). I just hope she gets cold in the school...serves her right. She KNOWS what is appropriate and what isn't and right now she's pressing the boundaries.

BUT, DD is doing wonderful in swimming. The coach suggested we get her into a year round program. Said it would do her a LOT of good cause she's got a LOT of natural talent.

LJ's swim lesson last night went well. He's starting to swim a bit and is doing well holding his breath under water.

CC, well, he's doing good too. We both went to bed early last night (shut the tv off at 9:30)...of course, I still didn't get to sleep until 10:30.

So what is my thought for today? Well, Sunday our pastor was doing an illustration of handling problems (or trying times) in our lives. But he didn't use the favorite saying that I grew up on.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonaid!

So that is my thought for today.

One Day at a Time

One Day at a time, sweet Jesus. That's all I'm asking of you.

That's my prayer today. School is doing good. I'm busy but not too much. The kids are busy. The CC is busy. Even Molly our black lab is busy (I'm running her to get her to lose some weight).

Random thought: Stop and smell the roses. Or whatever flower you can find. Take it easy and USE TIVO to record the Olympics instead of watching them late at night to see them live.

I LOVE my family!

No really, I do! They are awesome. CC is working on the Jeep still. He's so talented with an engine it amazes me. He's putting a Chevy 350 engine (that he is building from scratch) into the Wrangler. He's doing EVERYTHING. Now, you might ask "Couldn't you have bought one or paid for someone else to do it?". Yes, he could have but its the satisfaction of doing it himself! It's going to look sweet and I can't wait to see it.

DD is just amazing. She went to youth conference and came back with a much better outlook on things and isn't as snippy as before. She's a JOY to be around now. I just love her so much! And I am so proud of her. Swimming is difficult but she's doing GREAT! I can't wait for her first meet. I just hope she doesn't get discouraged if she doesn't win the first one. She has a lot ahead of her but I KNOW she can be awesome at it if she sticks with it.

LJ is just a doll. He's so sweet. He loves his "A-tha" (DD's nickname is "A-tha"). They are so cute together. He loves the water. He loves to help his Daddy with the Jeep (watchout, he knows what a hammer is now) and he loves to "Hep" his mommy clean "I hep, I hep". It's just so cute.

Outside of all those people I just listed, I have a beautiful Mom, a gorgeous sister and family and a amazing brother and family. I am just so blessed.

What are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for the above.
I'm thankful for my NASCAR WW friends.
I'm thankful that I have my health and for so many other things...too much to list.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty

Okay, so I don't feel pretty actually...but I do feel optimistic (thanks to AK). Why you say? Well, I have a pretty full weekend and I know it will all be fun. DD's birthday is today. She's wiped out already from swim practice and has more this afternoon. We are having pizza, cake and ice cream for dinner tonight. Tomorrow is swim lesson for LJ. Sunday is church, birthday party for a little friend of LJ's and LJ's last swim lesson for this season.

Busy much? Yes. But I love it.

Plus I start my first Master's course on Monday. Life will be busy for me but I know that it will all work out for good.

Random thought: Along AK's theme, you can view your glass as half empty or half full. Which one makes you feel better?
